Put the two together and you wonder if you will ever be normal again. I lived it all! I saw my father physically beat my mother. I vowed this would never ever happen to me! Yet, I walked straight into the same situation, got married, and lived a life with my abuser for almost 21 years raising two wonderful children. I had no idea that I could live a violent free life until one day my best friend helped me find a local shelter. I called them; I made an appointment; I talked for two hours; and finally realized that I did not have to live like that. That is when I started taking the steps to walk away. It was not easy, but I was determined and God was right there for me and helped me every step of the way. He never gave up on me and I learned not to give up on myself. I now live a violent free life, I have remarried, God is in my heart, and I have a wonderful life. Why?? Because I never gave up!
